FAQs

Users

What is Dub Hub?

The UK’s first music identification app driven solely by its user base rather than algorithmic fingerprints.

Tailored towards unreleased and underground dance music, we’re focused on driving engagement through user-to-user & user-to-artist relations, promotion and popularisation of new and emerging underground artists, building momentum for upcoming releases, and rewards for engagement.

The combination of promotion, networking and rewards will cultivate a thriving scene and in turn, a group of like-minded individuals.

So what does this mean for me?

A dedicated platform to discover and identify new and unreleased music. You’ll have access to the following features:

  • A user-based track identification system
  • Real time notifications when tracks you’ve identified or liked are released
  • Rewards for consistent engagement (see the next FAQ for full information)
  • Direct communication with your favourite artists and DJs
  • A streamlined, intuitive user-interface that enables you to organise and keep track of your IDs
What type of rewards can I earn?

By continually engaging and identifying songs, rewards can be earned for:

  • Tickets to sought-after events
  • Passes to the UK’s biggest festivals
  • Access to unreleased dubs & exclusive tracks
  • Early copies of upcoming releases
  • Free Patreon subscriptions from your favourite producers
  • Limited-edition merch
  • Top-tier audio and production equipment

We’re working on partnerships with leading labels, events and artists in order to recognise continued engagement with the app. The rewards on offer will vary month-to-month and will be tailored to your personal interests. If your primary interest is drum & bass, then we’ll make sure you’re offered tickets to drum & bass events, or early releases of drum & bass songs for example.

More information on rewards and how to earn these will be revealed prior to launch. Keep an eye out for this.

What type of content can I upload?
Any video content that you have, whether that’s new or old! As long as it has audio attached to it then you can upload it. Videos from events, festivals and raves are good places to start, along with screen recordings from mixes.

We’ll put proactive measures in place to identify popular tracks that have already been released, ensuring your feed stays filled with fresh, new, and unreleased content.

How will I receive alerts of songs when they’re released?

As long as you have push notifications enabled then we’ll keep you updated when a song you’ve identified or liked has been released. Whether the release is through a major streaming platform, a free download or as part of a dub pack, we’ll let you know how you can get your hands on the track.

How long will it take someone to identify my track?

This will depend on a number of different factors, such as the DJ, genre, popularity and hype of the track, amongst other things. Whilst we can’t specify an exact timeframe for this, the time it takes to identify a song will only increase as the community of users and artists grows larger.

What should I do if no one identifies the track?
Don’t be disheartened. If it’s a sought after track then the chances are someone else will have posted it too. The higher the engagement on a post, the better chances are that it will be identified.

If the DJ or producer is already a member of Dub Hub then we’d encourage you to tag them in the video and hopefully they’ll be able to identify the track. Their verified artist profile will help authenticate track IDs.

When will Dub Hub be launching its app?
Whilst we’re currently posting new music content almost every single day on our social media channels, we’re looking for a release of the app as soon as possible. In the interests of being fully transparent, this largely depends on funding. You can join the waiting list above if you haven’t already done so to get the latest updates. If you know anyone else who would be interested in this, then send them our way too.
So, what exactly is the waiting list for?

Whilst you’ll be amongst the first people given the chance to access the app, your voice will also help shape how new music is consumed and identified in the future. By joining the waiting list this also ensures that we can keep you updated on the progress we’re making in the meantime.

Is Dub Hub free?

Yes, it’s absolutely free to use. We believe discovering new music should be free and accessible to all.

If you’re an artist looking to get a Verified Artist Profile with us then please see the Artist specific FAQs below for more info on this.

Where can I find you on social media and how can I get in contact with you directly?

You can follow us on any of our social media channels by clicking here. We also have links to our Spotify and Soundcloud playlists too.

For any professional enquiries please email us at dubhub@dubhub.uk and we’ll get back to you on the same day.

Artists

What can Dub Hub help me achieve?

We have first-hand experience of the modern-day struggles artists face when promoting upcoming music on an array of over-saturated social media platforms. Posts get buried beneath an ever-changing algorithm, leaving you deflated with the lack of engagement. There’s now a necessity for a dedicated music platform to fulfil the needs of both artists and fans.

By combining the passion and drive that fans routinely express, both physically and digitally, we’re offering you access to a new platform solely dedicated to identifying, sharing and promoting your music. This is all whilst continually driving the electronic music scene forward.

How will this work for me?
By creating a Verified Artist Profile with us you’ll be able to confirm whether any user uploaded IDs are yours. From here you’ll be able to share full track details and release info, if applicable.

Upon release day you’ll then be able to take this one step further and alert everyone who has liked this video that the track is officially out, with a link to where to stream, download, or purchase it.

What is a Verified Artist Profile (VAP)?

A VAP allows you to stand out from non-artist users and officially confirm any user-uploaded content as your own. Your VAP status will be reflected with a verification tick to make it clear when commenting and interacting with other users that you’re an artist.

How do I get a Verified Artist Profile (VAP)?

A VAP is available for a small monthly fee. This fee will be reinvested into maintaining the app and offering exciting rewards to both users and artists in order to keep growing the community as a whole.

The price of this monthly subscription will be determined through consultation with a range of artists, DJs, producers and other leading industry professionals. We’ll be discussing this with both top level and underground artists to ensure that the subscription is both fairly and competitively priced.

What are the requirements for a Verified Artist Profile (VAP)?

If you’re an artist, DJ, or producer with an existing catalogue of releases, then you’ve already met the requirements for a VAP. The minimum threshold for this will be finalised prior to launch, along with quantified metrics to determine whether you’re eligible for a standard or professional VAP.

What’s the difference between a standard VAP and professional VAP?

A standard VAP is for someone who:

– Regularly releases or produces music
– Consistently DJs at events

A professional VAP is for someone who:

– Regularly releases or produces music
– Consistently DJs at events
– Has a substantial discography
– Is well known within their genre or the wider community

The metrics to determine eligibility will be finalised prior to launch.

What’s to stop someone from impersonating me?

We’ll be employing strict methods to ensure that you’re the only person able to sign up for a VAP under your name/alias. Each VAP will undergo a rigorous authentication process to ensure validity and protect against impersonation.

Can users with a Verified Artist Profile (VAP) earn rewards?

Yes and no. Some artists out there are like human jukeboxes, so we want to help share this knowledge, not gate-keep it. On the flip side, we don’t want to take away rewards from non-artist users.

You can still earn rewards in the same way users can, however, the rewards on offer will be slightly different and more tailored towards artists, DJs, and producers. This will include:

  • Collaboration opportunities with leading artists
  • Top-tier audio and production equipment
  • Stems from popular tracks and official remix opportunities
  • Access to paid production or DJ studio time
  • Guest mix and live DJ set opportunities
I’m not an artist, but I want to get involved! What should I do?

If you’re a label, brand, promoter, audio equipment manufacturer, industry professional or someone else that would like to enquire about collaborating with us, then please get in touch by emailing us at collaborations@dubhub.uk
